Get Started Here
As a WSU student with a disability, you can apply for accommodations. Accommodations are designed to eliminate disability-related barriers in the environment and curriculum to give you an equal opportunity for success. “Disability” is a broad term that includes, but is not limited to, mental health conditions, chronic health conditions, temporary injuries, physical/learning disabilities and ADHD.
1. Submit application for academic accommodations or WSU Housing accommodations
Accommodations cannot be implemented retroactively, so please apply as early as possible.
Pregnancy/Parent Accommodations
If you cannot complete the application online, contact your campus' Accommodations or Access Center.
2. Submit necessary documentation from a medical or mental health provider (we have a template, for guidance)
You may supplement your application with additional third-party documentation if you feel it would help assess appropriate accommodations. Submitting third-party documentation with your application is not required to meet with an Accommodations Specialist, but may be necessary for accommodations. Read more about documentation here.
Once an application and any necessary documentation is received, you will receive an email to your @wsu.edu email address within 3-5 business days requesting an initial meeting with an Accommodations Specialist.
3. Application and documentation are reviewed by a Student Accommodations Specialist
A Student Accommodations Specialist will review your application and supporting documentation for each accommodations request.
4. Student receives email confirmation to meet with a Student Accommodations Specialist
You will receive an email with a link to schedule a time to meet with your Student Accommodations Specialist.
5. Student and SAS meet to determine reasonable accommodations (usually 1 hour in person, Zoom, and/or Phone Call)
6. Student is responsible for requesting accommodations each semester for the courses they would like accommodations in

Student Responsibilities
Students must apply for accommodations through Student Accommodations and Disability Resources. Once approved, students must request accommodations each semester through MyAccess. Students are encouraged but are not necessarily required, to meet with each instructor within two weeks of receipt of the Faculty Notification Letter. However, several accommodations do require a meeting (e.g., flexible attendance, flexible assignment deadlines).
Faculty & Instructor Responsibilities
Instructors are responsible for implementing approved accommodations. Instructors can request clarification regarding specific accommodations or how best to implement accommodations. Instructors are asked to consult with the student’s Accommodations Specialist if questions or concerns arise. Accommodations are to provide equal access and not compromise the integrity of the course, the course requirements, or the student’s learning.
Student Accommodations & Disability Resources Responsibilities
Student Accommodation and Disability Resources approves accommodations, collaborates with students and faculty, assists with accommodation implementation, and works with instructors and students when questions or concerns arise.
